5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing canker sore product. THE BEST!, November 12, 2009
This review is from: Zilactin B Long Lasting Mouth Sore Gel - 0.25 Oz (Health and Beauty)
This is a great product for canker sores. It's the only one that actually creates a protective layer over your canker sore and STAYS there. I tried Canker-X, Kanka, and Abrevia. Canker-X is so liquidy, it never dries up and ends up all over your mouth. Then the pain comes back in a few minutes. Canker-X claims to create a protective layer, but it doesn't. Kanka hurts a bunch, numbs your sore, and makes an attempt at producing a covering while getting all over your mouth. I feel like Zilactin-B is even better than home remedies such as hydrogen peroxide, aloe vera juice, baking soda, and salt. Why do I say this? Because Zilactin-B's patented bio-adhesive protective layer is that effective and it keeps me feeling great all day! You can even see it as it covers your sore. It's dark purple in color and dries up in a slightly lighter color. It's not a mystery like the other brands. I tried the home remedies and they hurt a lot. They also don't do anything about the continual pain I... Read more

This review is from: Zilactin B Long Lasting Mouth Sore Gel - 0.25 Oz (Health and Beauty)
I've been suffering from canker sores for as long as I can remember. I've tried almost everything from warm water/salt, alum, canker sore drops, mouthwash, debacterol (hurts like crazy), and many others. So far the best that I have tried is debacterol and zilactin b. Both of them cauterizes the top part of the sore so that it makes a protective layer on top which numbs the sore.

The cons:
* applying it in wet areas (like under the tongue, on the tongue) is not so effective since the saliva washes most of it out. Debacterol works better in wet areas but is more painful.
* need to reapply every 4-6 hours which means I have to reapply in the middle of the day.
* dries to a white film which is unsightly compared to other products.

The pros:
* it's gel like and not liquid so application is easier, at least for me.
* a lot less painful than other remedies that I've tried.
* it Works! The pros outweigh the cons. But it's not perfect yet so... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Other uses., July 19, 2010

I get canker sores also and agree with everybody else. But it works for another thing. This summer I have been bitten repeatedly by what I believe is Tiger mosquitoes. But last summer I was stung by a yellow jacket...same reaction. Intense itching, blistering and constant histamine weeping. This stuff is the only thing that really helps. The coating is not affected by the fluids and it covers the wound. The benzocaine numbs the itching and allows me 4-6 hours itch free. This is a really good product. Good to have around for first aide.
