The SmartGuard Elite was released in January of 2012 as an enhanced version of the current SmartGuard. The best OTC night guard for TMJ symptoms, jaw pain, clenching, and sensitive teeth just got better. It has been enhanced to prevent from falling out during the night. The SmartGuard Elite is a better fit for the medium sized mouths up to the largest mouth. It was also designed to work better for jaw popping, clicking in the jaw, and a locked jaw better compared to the current SmartGuard Original mouth guard.
Gagging is non-existant, due to our patented "Gag Free" design. It stays in place nicely. A more important feature to recognize is that it doesn't cause many problems and symptoms that other guards can cause. The SmartGuard Night Guard is an excellent replacement for custom TMJ night guards made at the dental office. It doesn't allow your back teeth to touch, so it also protects your teeth from the affects grinding teeth and clenching. I have a small mouth, and I have a problem with clenching my teeth at night, especially on my right side, which causes considerable pain and can't be good for my teeth. After a night of clenching, I can't even chew anything tough. I've tried many of the commercial mouth guards, but I can't say I ever found much difference between them. I found your original SmartGuard online, and it was the best thing I ever tried because it separates the teeth, rather than merely lining them with plastic. I was thrilled with it.
